2/19/06 Day 1 (Part 1): Siem Reap

We nearly missed our flight. I went out drinking with some old friends the night before, got drunk and set the wrong time on the alarm. But we made it nonetheless and I would've kicked myself if we hadn't. After a two hour flight, we found ourselves in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We took the moto -- rode pillion on motorcycles -- to the town center. They don't allow tourists to self drive/ride in Siem Reap, so after checking into a guesthouse, we opt to rent bicycles as our mode of transport.

We decided to ride to the market place, have our lunch and explore the place, but reckon that it was boring as there's not much to see or buy, so we rode the temples.

Angkor Wat, looking most magnificent.

The way to heaven is not an easy one. And done on all fours for most of the way. CK went up and immediately regretted when she looked down and realised how steep it was.

After fifteen minutes, CK was still stuck on the steps. Being the bastard that I am, I was standing at the bottom of the steps laughing my head off at her. Teeheehee. I was actually chicken, thinking whether I should go up after her.

We finally went up and the view from above was worth all the effort.
